Agim Aliu was born on June 10, 1971, in Balaj village, Municipality of Ferizaj. He completed his primary education in his hometown and the gymnasium high school in Ferizaj. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in the same field at the University of Prishtina. He also studied at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Prishtina.
He was raised in a family with a patriotic tradition, he became involved from an early age in activities in support of the national cause. Due to his political and patriotic activities, in 1993 he was mistreated by the Serbian occupying authorities, together with his sister, Sanije, who was imprisoned twice as a political prisoner.
During the war, he served in the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
Political Career:
- He is one of the founders of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) branch in Ferizaj;
- Chairman of the Democratic Youth of Kosovo in Ferizaj, 2001–2003;
- Member of the PDK Branch Presidency in Ferizaj since 2001 and currently;
- Member of the Municipal Assembly of Ferizaj, 2000–2009;
- Chairperson of the Municipal Assembly of Ferizaj, 2007–2009;
- Re-elected Chairperson of the Municipal Assembly of Ferizaj, 2009–2013;
- Chairman of the PDK branch in Ferizaj;
- Mayor of the Municipality of Ferizaj, 2012–2013;
- PDK candidate for Mayor of the Municipality of Ferizaj, 2013;
- Member of the fifth legislature of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, 2014–2017;
- Member of the Committee on Legislation of the Assembly of Kosovo, 2014–2017;
- Member of the sixth legislature of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, 2017;
- Currently serves as Mayor of the Municipality of Ferizaj.
He is married and he is father of a child.
